September 20 The Developer Show - User Group podcastDevelopers are Us - Podcast
Nick Randolph has taken over as host of The Developer Show.
Adam Cogan and I were asked to take part in a podcast on user groups. You can listen to it here.
Happy to provide further feedback on starting, maintaining, hosting etc user groups. Just ask September 14 Focus on BusinessWell this morning was the launch of Canberra .NET at Canberra's Focus on Business event. Jon Stanhope was there to kick it off along with staff from Microsoft in Canberra and a whole bunch of Canberra business people. We had a stand. One of the 5 Canberra .NET members to have a stand. Was it worth it? Probably not, but I guess we'll see. It was a lot different to the usual Microsoft events that we attend. More business people with less knowledge about IT than I'm used to...even though it was the ICT showcase (Information Communication and Technology). It was good to see the now becoming familiar Partners about town. And as usual it was great to have the company of David Mackie to make the event a little more lively. September 05 Techo's version of "Mine's bigger than yours"The evening I was at my desk when John asked a couple of our developers their advice on purchasing a new laptop. So the conversation goes something like this "Mine is 3 GHz", "Mine's a dual processor", "Mines got a 80gig Hard drive"....etc. It was a techo's pissing contest!!! Very funny. Microsoft Canberra awards lunchYesterday lunchtime was spent at Microsoft Canberra at an event aimed at awarding/rewarding/thanking Canberra's MS Partners. My understanding is that it's the first time a local branch of MS has held an event like this for their Partners. The Canberra branch seems to be spending quite a bit of time with Partners recently. Between the Canberra .NET event, the Partner Conference, Tech-Ed, this awards event and Focus on Business coming up next week, I believe I'm going to see more of local Partners than I have in total over the last 4.5 years!!!
So why is this happening? Is it because Pip has taken over as the new Partner Manager? Is it because Michael has taken over in MS Canberra? Is it because many local Partners complained? Do you know? Ron Jacobs Presentation in CanberraMicrosofts Nils van Boxsel arranged for Ron Jacobs to come to Canberra last week to present on Patterns and Anti-Patterns for Service-Oriented Architectures.
It was great to see someone from MS O/S come to our neck of the woods. I'd like to see it more often but I guess we have to wait and see. Well it was certainly something worth listening to but for those who missed it here are the slides... http://blogs.msdn.com/nilsv/archive/2006/09/04/739330.aspx Helen a New Tablet User?I've just been perusing blogs and noticed a pic of Helen, my work collegue and sister.
